Edisto Beach Fire Department – Celebrating 50 Years of Service

Founded in 1976, this year marks a significant milestone for the Edisto Beach Fire Department as it has been serving the Town of Edisto Beach community for 50 years! Our Town Council, Town Administration, Fire Department, and the Edisto Beach Volunteer Fire Department are proud to celebrate this history with the community we serve.

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Town will celebrate the Fire Department’s 50th Anniversary with an Open House Celebration. We invite all residents, visitors, and interested others to help us celebrate 50 years of dedicated service. Please join us for hotdogs, demonstrations, giveaways, and fun.

posted 5/16/25 – ALERT: Please be aware that coyote sightings have been reported in Ocean Ridge. This necessitates caution, particularly for pet owners and those with children. Coyotes are adaptable and may be unafraid of entering yards or porches, and they can climb fences.

Edisto Triathlon and 12th Annual Edisto Beach Road Race

posted 11/9/2023 The Edisto Triathlon will  be held this Saturday, 11/11/23, and the run will again go through part of Ocean Ridge.  The runners will enter through the Jenkins pedestrian/bike path and proceed to and turn atain onto Gun Bluff and exit Ocean Ridge through the same Jenkins pedestrian/bike path.  The gates will not need to be opened for the run.  Although they will have around 150 participants, there should not be any large group of runners at any one time as they are competing against the clock.

 

The 12th Annual Edisto Beach Road Race will be held the following Saturday, 11/18/23, and will follow the regular route: beginning at the Water’s Edge Cafe, exiting the Jenkins gate, reentering the Summerwind gate and finishing at the Cafe.  A Chamber representative will open the gates as needed for exit and reentry.

Office Hours Adjustment

posted 6/23/2023 The SW Community/Ocean Ridge office will return to regular hours beginning Monday, June 26, 2023.  We are open from 9:00 – 4:00 on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and from 9:00 – 1:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Please call before you come in to make sure there is someone in the office (843) 869-4300.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during the last 2 weeks!
