Edisto Triathlon and 12th Annual Edisto Beach Road Race

posted 11/9/2023 The Edisto Triathlon will  be held this Saturday, 11/11/23, and the run will again go through part of Ocean Ridge.  The runners will enter through the Jenkins pedestrian/bike path and proceed to and turn atain onto Gun Bluff and exit Ocean Ridge through the same Jenkins pedestrian/bike path.  The gates will not need to be opened for the run.  Although they will have around 150 participants, there should not be any large group of runners at any one time as they are competing against the clock.

 

The 12th Annual Edisto Beach Road Race will be held the following Saturday, 11/18/23, and will follow the regular route: beginning at the Water’s Edge Cafe, exiting the Jenkins gate, reentering the Summerwind gate and finishing at the Cafe.  A Chamber representative will open the gates as needed for exit and reentry.

Gate Installation Update

posted 10/22/23 The new tube-style gate has been installed at the Summerwind entrance but will remain open as a safety precaution until the signage is installed and the exit reader is moved which will occur on Monday.  Installation of the new gates at the Jenkins entrance will begin on Monday, October 23rd.  Traffic through the entrance lane may be blocked temporarily during installation.  Work on the Jenkins exit will begin upon completion of the entrance installation.  Be advised that this work may result in the temporary closure of the exit lane.  Please plan to use either the front gate or the Summerwind gate while this work is in progress.  The current RFIDs will continue to work in the same manner.  This project should help eliminate the continuous problems we have experienced with people breaking the wooden gate arms.

The Summerwinds Gate has been repaired and is now operational.

Jenkins Gate Repaired/Summerwinds Delay

The Jenkins Street back gate has been repaired. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for parts for the Summerwinds Gate which we hope to obtain Monday. Thank you for your patience.
