Hurricane Irma: Mandatory Evacuation

Edisto Beach Police Department:  The governor has ordered a mandatory evacuation for Edisto Beach begining at 10 AM tomorrow (Saturday). We will begin a door to door notification at 8AM.

Town of Edisto Beach:  Governor McMaster has ordered a mandatory evacuation of Edisto Beach starting at 10:00 a.m on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Door-to-door notification will begin at 8:00 a.m. Please be safe!

Report on Meeting of Town of Edisto Beach Council

Subject: Hurricane Irma

The following points were made at the meeting:

  • Police Chief George Brothers reported it is predicted that when Irma reaches Edisto, it will be a Category 1 – 3
  • We will start to feel the effects of Irma on Sunday night.
  • The Town has all their equipment prepared for the storm.
  • The Governor is the only one with the authority to make a call for mandatory evacuation.
  • The manager of Southern Community Services, Horace Kinsey, is on the list of people who will be given priority access to properties at Ocean Ridge following the storm.

Governor McMaster indicated he will probably issue an evacuation order at a news conference on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Please continue to monitor the situation for any changes.

Yard Waste Pick Up Date Change

Per the Town of Edisto Beach, next week the yard waste will be picked up on Monday August 21, 2017 instead of August 22, 2017.
